Where better to get away from the homogenized “news” and pop content saturating our Facebook and Twitter feeds than a mobile app dedicated real human stories from the backyards of Columbus, Ohio to the distant grasses of the Mongolian plains?
For the mobile applications of ViewFind, we were asked to adapt the features of the online website to a version suited for the mobile landscape with consideration to both its physical and usage restraints. Thus, after analyzing ViewFind’s various audiences and use cases to date, we decided to exclude the story submission and publication functionalities to focus the app on its content and social aspects. While it would be cumbersome and inefficient to submit or edit lengthy photo stories on the small real estate of a smartphone screen, ViewFind’s easily digestible content was perfect for on-the-go consumption: the dual longform and slideshow formats of stories accommodated both scrolling and swiping users, and stories and authors could be easily liked and shared.
